Moderation Policy
This page explains how YSA moderators handle posts, what happens when rules are broken, and how to appeal a moderation decision.
Last reviewed: 2026-04-30
Section 1
How moderation works
Posts are reviewed in two ways: proactively by moderators monitoring discussion, and reactively when members report a post. Moderators apply the community rules consistently and record their actions.
Section 2
Warnings and removal
Minor breaches receive an edit request or a polite warning. Repeated or serious breaches result in post removal, temporary suspension or, in severe cases, permanent account closure.
Section 3
Appeals
If you disagree with a moderation decision you can appeal via the contact page. Appeals are reviewed by a different moderator or by an editorial lead, and the outcome is recorded.
Section 4
Verified club rooms
Posts in verified club rooms are subject to the same rules and the same appeal process. Sensitive verified-only material is not exposed to public moderators.
Section 5
Safeguarding and emergencies
If a post raises a safeguarding concern, moderators escalate to the safeguarding contact and, if needed, to statutory services. Emergency disclosures should not be posted in public threads — use the safeguarding contact route instead.
